Bath Rocked

Salam guyz...

Hope you all are having a very good and productive Ramadan so far. Today is the 26th day of fasting and Raya is fast approaching *hehe* Although Raya here is very different from that in Brunei or any other muslim countries, the celebrations are none the less cheerful, fun and exciting :) Hope MelayuBath and Islamic Society are gonna organize something this year ;) For you people in Brunei enjoy the festive season dudez. I will claim my green packet when I get back hahaha

On Tuesday there was a major fire in Bath which shocked everyone. The usual peaceful city turned into chaos when an explosion occurred at the 360 million pounds SouthGate site (shopping centre and residential blocks development). I was on campus during the time of the incident getting ready to go down to the mosque in the city for iftar. The bus was late for at least 30 mins. At this point, I only heard some rumuors about the fire and thought it was not that serious until I reached the city to the horrific scene of the roads leading to the mosque and most roads close to the site was closed (including Bath Spa train and bus station) by the police. Oh how I can feel for the people who might have a flight to catch. All I can say is unlucky mate huhu

It was horrific because me and some brothers were not just late for iftar but there’s not gonna be iftar in the mosque that day *huhu* So no other choice, we all went back home. Bought 2 cheese burgers from Adel’s kebab shop and at last took my iftar 20 mins before it was Isha time :( Oh btw, brother Moustafa who’s house is just 5 mins walk from the mosque had to walked all the way round which took him half an hour to reach home hehe

Anyway back to the fire, it was reported that some gas canisters exploded during the work. Alhamdulillah there was no one injured in the incident although I heard some accounts from eye witnesses that the explosion was massive. Well, you can imagine that with gas supplies. An early fireworks for Raya probably *hehe* So most people were evacuated from buildings nearby and there was also a rescue helicopter standing by *cool hehe* I did passed by the site today and works have resumed although the affected area is still under investigation.

Well that is a bit of update from the city of Bath which usually all time is a very quite place and not much news apart from its university and Bath Rugby *hehe* and oh yea… I came across an article in the newspaper that Jamie Oliver (English celeb chef) who host the Naked Chef cook show was here today and he’s gonna open an Italian restaurant in Bath which will seat 200 people on October 6 *woohoo*

Till den, Adios… ;)
